You won't need to do a thing to ensure that your scans look their best, because the S1500 comes equipped with paper-feed detection to monitor page size, as well as color and black-and-white detection. Better still, the scanner automatically rotates, crops, or de-skews documents.

I never write reviews, but I had to make an exception for this scanner. It works exactly as described. I scanned an entire year of my DayTimer diaries in under 30 minutes. It scans both sides perfectly. When a page jams, instructions pop up that tell you clearly how to correct it. My recommendations:
- I bought from Amazon because it was the best price I saw and because I know from experience that if I don't like something I can send it back with absolutely no problems.
- Get the deluxe version. It's worth the extra few dollars to get the organizer software.
- I was in a hurry to get it. (I always am.) I have an Amazon Prime account, so I got 1-day shipping for only $4. 2-day would have been free.
- If you're worried about the price - take good care of it, keep the original packaging, scan everything you need to scan, then sell it on eBay. You will get back most of your money - check the prices. (I will never give mine up - unless a newer model comes along.)
- I found out about this scanner from using Evernote. If you don't have this, and if you keep everything the way I do, you need it. There's a free version that works just fine.
